Meet the Coaches

Under the guidance of our experienced coaching staff, led by Head Coach John Anderson, who has been with us for seven years, five as the head coach, and assisted by Marissa Oakley and Tyler Ballantyne, we are determined to build a national competitive program in the coming years. Our coaches bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise, both on and off the ice, to help our players reach their full potential as players, but more importantly, as people.

John Anderson
Head Coach

John Anderson is a multifaceted individual whose passion for hockey and commitment to leadership and character development have left an indelible mark on the sport. Hailing from Evergreen, Colorado, John's love for the game was nurtured by playing pond hockey in his hometown. He then honed his skills as a goalie at Evergreen High School. Transitioning into coaching, John dedicated nine years to the ACHA, serving as an assistant coach for two years at the University of Colorado and another two years at the University of Denver. He ultimately ascended to the role of head coach at Denver, leading the team for five successful seasons. Under his guidance, Denver experienced remarkable growth, expanding from 14 to 28 players, and transformed into a nationally recognized program.

John's coaching prowess is highlighted by his two-time runner-up achievement in the WWCHL. However, his impact goes beyond the game itself. He possesses a deep commitment to the personal and leadership development of his players, investing significant time in their individual growth both on and off the ice. Leveraging his professional experience in government, non-profit, and for-profit sectors, John brings a unique perspective to his coaching role. Currently, he serves as the Director of Operations and Co-founder of Hive Medical, a software company revolutionizing the process of interacting with healthcare providers. Utilizing this experience, John prepares his players for life after hockey, equipping them with essential skills and helping them transition into their professional careers. John Anderson's contributions to the hockey community extend far beyond the rink, creating a lasting impact on the lives of his players and the sport as a whole.
